Shiseido Americas Names New CFO

Shiseido Americas Corporation (SAC), the U.S. subsidiary of Tokyo based Shiseido Co. Ltd., announced the promotion of Pankaj Gupta to executive vice president, finance and operations, and CFO, effective immediately.  Gupta had previously been the senior vice president of finance and operations for Nars Cosmetics, a division of SAC.

In his new role Gupta will be responsible for providing financial leadership in determining strategic business direction, optimizing supply chain and operations and overall be a business partner coordinating various corporate functions across the organization to achieve SAC’s strategic and financial objectives.

“Pankaj has been a major contributor at SAC for the past nine years. His tireless work ethic, focused planning and keen analytical skills have been instrumental in contributing to the successes of the divisions he has served,” said Carsten Fischer, (acting) chairman of SAC and corporate senior executive officer of Shiseido Co. Ltd. “We are pleased to recognize his contributions and are confident Pankaj will continue to add significant value to the company with his finance and operational skills and knowledge of the business.”

Gupta joined Shiseido in 2003 as VP of finance for Zirh International and added operations to his responsibilities in 2005. In 2007, his role at the company expanded to include responsibility for the finance, accounting and SCM functions for Nars Cosmetics ultimately adding sales operations as well as leading project management, a newly created area. In July 2010, Gupta was promoted to senior vice president, finance and operations at Nars.

Gupta began his career at Unilever in Mumbai, India, and had various progressive executive positions in finance and operations. Prior to joining Shiseido, he was director of financial services at Interloci, Inc. a global network management company.
