ICMAD Names New Board Members

ICMAD (Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers & Distributors) has named three new members to its board of directors for the 2012–2013 fiscal year. Approved at the recent annual ICMAD CITY Awards, Joseph Atencio of ChemAid Laboratories, Alisa Marie Beyer of The Beauty Company and John Maly of Mirabella Beauty will help bring a wealth of experience to the current board of directors. Each will serve a one-year term, as well as develop membership and education programs.

Joseph Atencio joined ChemAid Laboratories as CEO in February 2011, after having spent approximately 10 years at Cosmetic Essence, Inc. (CEI). At CEI, he was CFO from 2001 to 2006 and executive vice president from 2006 to 2010. As EVP, Atencio executed the company's globalization strategy and opened operations in Shanghai, China, and Strykow, Poland. Prior to CEI, he was the CFO of Skila Inc., and spent 15 years as an investment banker with Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette.

Alisa Marie Beyer is the founding partner and CEO of The Beauty Company (TBC). In 2006, she launched TBC, a strategy firm that helps create blockbuster beauty successes by developing the right concept, the right product and the right brand to secure both sell-in and sell-through at retail. In 2012, Beyer founded Little Daisy Organics, a certified 100% natural and organic baby care line that will debut online, with an exclusive catalog, before becoming available at several major retailers in time for Mother's Day 2013.

John Maly has worked in the beauty business for most of his life. His father Ken Maly started selling beauty products to hair salons in 1952 and started Maly's in 1967. After working as a CPA with Deloitte & Touche in Chicago, John, who grew up in his father’s business, started his own accounting and consulting business for salons. In 1989, Maly's expanded to Los Angeles, and John began running the business for the family. Under John's 18-year tenure, Maly's West grew from $2 million to $200 million in sales. In 2007, John sold Maly's to L'Oréal and has dedicated himself to his other company, Mirabella Beauty.

"ICMAD is honored to have Joseph Atencio, Alisa Marie Beyer and John Maly join the board of directors. Their individual and collective knowledge, perspective, and expertise will be a great asset to ICMAD's continued growth and development," said Pam Busiek, CEO of ICMAD.
