Diamond Packaging is on a roll again when it comes to nabbing awards at the FSEA Gold Leaf Awards Competition: This year it grabbed six.

After winning five awards last year, the beauty and consumer products packaging company has yet again taken home the gold from the Annual FSEA Gold Leaf Awards Competition, which judges its participants on design, execution and level of difficulty

The winners were announced at the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) National Conference held in Orlando, Florida on April 4, 2016.

Best of Show: Calendar and Self-Promotion

Diamond won Best of Show, as well as Gold Leaf and Bronze Leaf awards in the “Calendar” and “Self Promotion” categories, respectively, for its three-month corporate calendar, a promotional item given to customers and suppliers. This year’s 2016 calendar marks the 25th anniversary of its long-standing company tradition.

Tools of the Trade

The calendar was converted using Clearwater Candesce SBS paperboard and offset printed with four color process inks, UV matte coating and UV gloss spot coating. The dimensional header features a multi-level embossed and debossed woodgrain pattern, and a clock face insert enhanced with UV gloss spot coating, cold foil and multi-level embossing. It also incorporates an opening APET rigid window panel and foil embossed chimes to simulate a grandfather clock.

The middle backers also feature a multi-level embossed woodgrain pattern and three sets of foil embossed gears enhanced with UV gloss spot coating. Metal Magic provided all of the embossing dies. The company used in-line cold foiling technology to create foil accents.

Silver Leaf Award: Cold Foil

Diamond won a Silver Leaf award in the “Cold Foil (Sheet or Rotary) on Label/Carton” category for Iovate’s Pro Clinical Hydroxycut Instant Drink Mix folding carton. The carton was converted using Clearwater Candesce SBS paperboard and offset printed with four color process inks and two spot colors in-line with UV gloss coating.

Cold foil combined with Cast and Cure holographic effects were used to enhance the front, side and top panels. Embossing and blind embossing creates a tactile quality.

Silver Leaf Award: Difficult Application of Foil/Embossing

Diamond also won a Silver Leaf award in the “Difficult Application of Foil/Embossing on a Folding Carton” category for The Lovely Distribution Company’s Sarah Jessica Parker Lovely folding carton.

The carton was converted utilizing FSC-certified Iggesund Invercote G paperboard and offset printed with pink, metallic gold and dense black inks, in-line with UV matte coating. A repeating circular pattern of silver foil adorns the front, side, rear and top panels. A gold foil is stamped and the "Lovely" logo embossed on the front panel.

Bronze Leaf: Creative Use of Specialty UV Coatings

Diamond won a Bronze Leaf award in the “Creative Use of Specialty UV Coatings” category for Elizabeth Arden's 5th Avenue Only NYC folding carton.

The carton was converted using metallized polyester board and printed with UV flexo fuchsia purple, dense black and opaque white offset inks, in-line with DiamondTouch soft touch coating, UV matte and UV gloss spot coating. The high gloss embossed accents on the front panel contrast the interlaced matte and spot UV gloss pattern surrounding it.

The primary container is a glass bottle with tall clean lines, purple color palette and gold-infused cap.

Eco Manufacturing

All of Diamond’s winning entries were manufactured using 100% clean, renewable wind energy and produced in a Zero Manufacturing Waste to Landfill (ZMWL) facility.
