Karla Fichter, current owner of Diamond Packaging, has announced that Harry Voss, former CEO, president, and owner of the company, died February 28, 2016, after battling cancer for over a decade.

Harry earned a BBA in Industrial Management from Clarkson College of Technology. After college he joined the Marine Corps, and as a rifle company commander achieved the rank of Captain.

Packaging Progress

Harry joined Diamond in 1965 and was a powerful force in the packaging industry for over 40 years. In 1973, he bought controlling interest of Diamond, and led its transformation from a company with 13 employees and $750,000 in sales to a global industry player providing packaging products and services to Fortune 500 companies worldwide.

In 1997 he co-founded the North Atlantic Packaging Alliance (NAPA), which later expanded to the Global Packaging Alliance (GPA). He contributed his wisdom and knowledge to various trade, educational, and community organizations, serving as Chairman of the National Paperbox Association (NPA), and on the Board of Directors for the Paperboard Packaging Council (PPC).

In 2012, he was recognized by the Foil & Specialty Effects Association (FSEA) with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Harry’s fundamental business values were: “Give the customer what he wants, when he wants it, made of the highest quality necessary, and charge what it is worth – nothing more and nothing less. That way he will be back tomorrow and you will be there to service him again.”
