To qualify for the Indie Beauty Award, companies must have introduced products in the U.S. in the past five years, be neither wholly nor partially owned by a larger company, and cannot have already won in this category.

A Rules Change

Another change for the 2011 CEW Beauty Awards Product Demonstration, to be held on March 9, 2011, at the Metropolitan Pavilion/Altman Building, is that participation is optional (though recommended). To help voters, the full list of entry products, descriptions and images will be listed on

The Voting Process

The CEW Beauty Award and Indie Beauty Award finalists will be voted on by CEW members. The CEW Board of Governors will vote to determine the winners. Both ballots—for finalists and winners—are cast electronically and tabulated by Ernst & Young LLP.

All winners of the 17th annual Beauty Awards will be announced at a luncheon on May 20, 2011, at the Waldorf=Astoria in New York City.

The 2011 CEW Beauty Awards are sponsored by Allure, Givaudan, CVS, Crest 3D White, Veet, QVC, WWD Beauty Biz, Hautelook, Arcade Marketing, The Royal Promotion Group, HBA, MaCher, Rpr Marketing Communications, KraftWorks, Suite K and Consultancy Media. Categories are defined by NPD and ballots tabulated Ernst & Young.
