P&G Announce Organizational Changes

Posted: June 12, 2008
The Procter & Gamble Company announced the following organizational changes: Ed Shirley, currently group president, P&G North America, has been elected vice chair of global beauty & grooming, reporting to Susan E. Arnold, president of global business units, effective July 1, 2008; Steve Bishop, currently president, North America market operations, will succeed Shirley as president of P&G North America. Bishop will report to Werner Geissler, vice chair of global operations.

"Ed is the right leader to accelerate the long-term growth of P&G's beauty and grooming businesses," said A.G. Lafley, chairman of the board and CEO, P&G. "He has a proven track record of leadership results. He knows how to win with consumers and retail customers in fast-growing, highly complex categories. He has breadth and depth of experience in general management, finance, marketing, sales and supply chain. He knows how to leverage retail partnerships and supply chain leadership to drive top- and bottom-line growth. He's a great collaborator and partner. And he'll bring a 'fresh lens' to help identify new opportunities and connections for consumer delight and customer business growth."

On Bishop's appointment, Lafley said, "The North America business is strong and Steve's the right leader to keep the momentum going. As general manager, he led the turn-around of P&G's North America fabric care business, and as president of North America market operations, he's been a key architect of the transformative change underway in the North America organization. Most importantly, Steve and Ed have delivered consistently strong growth in the North America business over the past two years, in the face of intensifying economic and competitive pressure. I'm confident Steve will keep P&G's North America business healthy and growing."
