The Body Shop is taking a stand against the testing of cosmetic products and ingredients on animals.

The company has announced a new campaign supporting a global ban on such practices by 2020. It has partnered with non-profit organization, Cruelty Free, and plans to take the campaign to the UN and will request an international convention banning cosmetics testing on animals.

Details for the Campaign

  • The campaign is hoping to attract eight million people to sign the petition calling the UN to end the practice.
  • The petition can be signed on The Body Shop’s website or any of its 3,000 stores around the world.
  • Supporters are urged to use the campaign hashtag, #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting, on social media to raise awareness.

Jessie Macneil-Brown, senior manager international campaigns and corporate responsibility, The Body Shop, says, "The Body Shop passionately believes that no animal should be harmed in the name of cosmetics and that animal testing on products and ingredients is outdated, cruel and unnecessary. This is why The Body Shop and Cruelty Free International have partnered to deliver the largest and most ambitious campaign ever to seek a global ban on the use of animals to test cosmetic products and ingredients."
