Church & Dwight Posts 2010 Sales in Increase

Posted: February 8, 2011

Church & Dwight Co., Inc. announced that full year 2010 sales increased 2.7% to $2,589 million from $2,521 million in 2009. Organic sales growth for 2010 was 3.0% for the total company and 2.9% for our total domestic and international consumer business.

"Despite weak consumer demand and intense price competition, we delivered 3% organic sales growth... Most importantly, we were able to increase market share in six of our eight power brands in 2010 and ended the year with strong consumption in our major brands," said James R. Craigie, chairman and CEO, Church & Dwight. "This consumption performance reflects a steady increase in marketing spending throughout the year, ending with our highest marketing spending of the year in the fourth quarter."

The company's consumer domestic net sales were $472.6 million, a $21.3 million decrease or 4.3% below the prior year fourth quarter sales, despite higher sales of, among other brands, Nair depilatories.
