Luxe and New Markets Driving L'Oreal First-half 2015 Results

Let by sales in "new" markets and the L'Oréal Luxe segment, L'Oreal's sales grew 14.7% in the first half of 2015, totaling 12.82 billion euros, while profit grew 14.5% to 2.32 billion euros at 18.1% of sales.

Jean-Paul Agon, chairman and CEO of L'Oréal, said, "At the end of June, our reported growth is the strongest recorded for the last twenty year," and added that all divisions have experienced growth.

The company's sales in Western Europe and North America have experienced "gradual improvement," according to the company, while "new" markets (excluding Brazil) posted "solid sales."

Highlights:

  • L'Oréal Luxe brands such as Giorgio Armani, Yves Saint Laurent and Kiehl's have posted double-digit growth
  • Professional products are rebounding, in part due to strength in the Redken brand
  • The Active Cosmetics Division has been boosted by the La Roche-Posay brand in all regions
  • The Consumer Products Division improving somewhat, in part due to "renewed dynamism" in Maybelline
