L’Oréal Paris Signs Mexican Actress as North American Spokesperson

L’Oréal Paris signed actress Kate del Castillo to an exclusive North American contract (including the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean) as a spokesperson for the company and its beauty brands. Castillo's first appearances will be in print and television advertising for Excellence hair color, and is scheduled to debut in the U.S. in the fall of 2009.

"We are so proud to welcome Kate del Castillo into our family of L’Oréal Paris spokespeople," said Karen T. Fondu, president of the L’Oréal Paris Division of L’Oréal USA, Inc. "So many have watched Kate grow to be the captivating and talented actress she is today. With her luminous beauty, inner strength and kind spirit, Kate makes a wonderful addition to the L’Oréal Paris brand and embodies the 'Because I'm Worth It' philosophy."

Kate del Castillo is one of Mexico's most acclaimed and popular actresses, and is gaining notice in the U.S. as a result of her award-winning performance in the Fox Searchlight film "Under the Same Moon," which recently became the highest-grossing Spanish-language theatrical release in U.S. history. Currently, del Castillo is appearing as a guest star in several episodes of the fifth season of the Showtime comedy series "Weeds."

As the daughter of movie actor Eric del Castillo, Kate del Castillo began acting at a very young age, but it wasn't until the successful telenovela "Muchachitas" that she became a full-fledged star in Mexico. She went on to become the leading ingenue of nine telenovelas, including "Ramona" and "La Mentira," which topped Nielsen rating charts.
