During this year's IFSCC Conference in Seoul, Korea, Kazuyuki Miyazawa, Ph.D., of Shiseido was awarded the Johann Wiechers Award, formerly the IFSCC Conference Award, for the most meritorious podium presentation pertaining to either basic or applied cosmetic research at an IFSCC Conference.

During his presentation, “Development of a Shield Technology to Keep Off Air Pollutants,” Miyazawa spoke about the company's "technology [developed] to suppress this adhesion of particles that uses a polymer to prevent static electricity generation and thus gently protects the body. This technology will be used in products that prevent secondary absorption as a result of breathing in particles that have already adhered to the body or the clothing, and keep the surface of the body and clothes clean, thus supporting a carefree everyday life with less physical and mental burden."
