Solvay Boosts Innovation Capabilities for Asia-Pacific

Solvay has opened a new research and innovation laboratory to support personal care customers in Japan.

The 250-sq-m facility, Solvay Nicca Tokyo Innovation Laboratory, is based near the Haneda airport. The lab's activities will support new formulation and technology development such as specialty surfactants.

The site complements existing facilities in Shanghai and Singapore.

Solvay Novecare has a worldwide network of 37 manufacturing sites and nine R&D centers. I

The location will allow the company to "take advantage of the country’s deep research and academic capabilities and ready infrastructure," according to Solvay.

“Japan has always been at the forefront of new, innovative technologies," said Pierre-Franck Valentin, vice president and general manager of Solvay Novecare Asia Pacific. "With our key focus on bringing innovations to the market to answer our customers’ unmet needs, it becomes even more apparent that we need to have the most advanced application labs in this country. We can then offer our customers innovative solutions to help differentiate themselves in the marketplace."
