Clariant unveiled a quintet of on-trend formulation concepts, highlighting the expertise of its Active Ingredients Unit at the Sanofi BioParc in Toulouse, France, which comprises naturally sourced products from BioSpectrum and Beraca and will support future development of novel nature-inspired active ingredients.

The unit will also aid innovation by converting trends and insights into demo formulations. The Toulouse facility includes a rheology lab and a lab for molecular research. Customers can use demo formulas for inspiration, to connect missing dots in their portfolios, or, in some cases, to use Clariant’s formulation expertise for finished products.

Clariant demonstrated four trend concepts and 16 individual formulas. First, the firm focused on consumers’ desire for individuality and self-expression, as well as a rising appetite for unique experiences. Clariant translated this into its Elixir moisturizer boosters, which allow consumers to mix and match serums to boost an existing base product.

Clariant’s Origin concept was supported by a Facial Honey Gel that comprised naturally sourced ingredients from Asia, as well as sugar-based materials from Europe, highlighting a diversity of cultures and a sense of transparency through the supply chain.

The Revive concept celebrated technology, trends, emerging innovation and unique textures with its Youth Activating Milky Way balm, which tones the skin while defending against pollutants. The Balance trend focused on indulgence amid busy lifestyles, inspired a detox concept formulation (see Beauty Detox).
