Sephora Puts 3,000 Lipstick Shades on Your Phone

Sephora is adding a new level of convenience and addiction to the lipstick trial process.

A recent update of the retailer's Sephora to Go mobile app, Virtual Artist, allows consumers to virtually try on more than 3,000 lipstick and lip gloss colors any time, anywhere.

Users can filter shades for skin tone using the Sephora + Pantone Color IQ matching technology.

Sephora Virtual Artist includes Compare Me, which allows users to compare four shades one a single screen, and Shake it Up, which selects four shades at random when the phone is shaken by users.

Consumers can share their looks on social media for instant feedback from their friends and followers, or emailed with product links for future reference. Products can also be indexed under My Favorites or added to a purchase basket.

“We want to make buying lipstick more fun than ever, and maybe a little addictive,” said Bridget Dolan, VP of Sephora’s Innovation Lab.
