Lipo Chemicals Merges with Vantage

Lipo Chemicals Inc. has merged with Vantage Specialty Chemicals, a Chicago-based producer of specialty chemicals. The merge will include Lipo's affiliates Ruger Chemical Co., Inc.; Lipo Technologies Inc.; and its global affiliate companies.

Vantage Specialty Chemicals is the parent company to Vantage Oleochemicals, once known as Uniqema's U.S. oleochemicals business, and Lambent Technologies. It is owned by H.I.G. Chemicals Holdings Corp., which bought the company in 2008 from Croda.

Lipo Chemicals (and affiliates) will now operate as a division of Vantage Specialty Chemicals. Lipo will continue to be headquartered in New Jersey. The current management of Lipo, which includes members of the Frischling family, will remain with the business.

According to a Lipo press release, the merger will allow Vantage to grow its personal care business in North America, while establishing new personal care business in Latin America, Europe, Africa and Asia. The merged company will continue to grow the Lipo brand in the personal care market. Formulators using Lipo products will now have access to additional resources available by Vantage.
