Posted: May 29, 2013

NYX Cosmetics announced the appointment of Cristina Bartolucci as chief creative director. Bartolucci, a veteran of the beauty industry and co-founder of the cult brand DuWop Cosmetics, will work alongside NYX's founder and chief creative officer Toni K. providing leadership and support in the areas of product development and overall brand strategy and creative.

"I couldn't be more excited to join the team at NYX Cosmetics," said Bartolucci. "Toni K. has done a tremendous job building a dynamic and innovative brand, and I am thrilled to bring my own experience and vision to help creatively grow the company to the next level."

Bartolucci brings over 20 years of experience in the beauty industry to her new role at NYX. Beginning her career as a makeup artist for A-list celebrities, as well as notable film, television shows and national commercials, she most recently served as vice president of brand relations for Preferred Display, where she consulted on design and development of point-of-purchase displays for domestic and international beauty retailers. Prior to that, she served as vice president of innovation for Roberts Cosmetics. Within this role, Bartolucci created over 100 products for leading cosmetics brands around the world.

These positions came on the heels of co-founding and acting as chief creative officer of DuWop Cosmetics, the cult brand responsible for creating such innovative products as Lip Venom. Bartolucci's role included responsibility for all creative direction, including product and shade development, packaging and logo design, merchandising, web marketing, photo shoots and collateral production.

"NYX Cosmetics is committed to building a staff of creative, like-minded beauty lovers who possess a passion and dedication to accelerating the brand and solidifying its place as a leader in the professional masstige cosmetics category," said Scott Friedman, CEO of NYX Cosmetics. "The hire of a talented, beauty industry pioneer such as Cristina Bartolucci showcases this commitment. With her impressive resume and combined industry experience in product development, packaging and branding, she will play a pivotal role in the continued development of our company. Most importantly, Cristina's collaborative style fits perfectly with our team and our approach to engagement with our customers."
