Lipotec took home the bronze at in-cosmetics’ Innovation Zone Best Ingredient Awards for Reproage, a peptide that targets cell reprogramming to jumpstart rejuvenation effects in aging skin. By “reprogramming in the epidermal basal layer through the modulation of epigenetic elements,” Reproage reportedly helps reactivate the regenerative abilities of basal cells, resulting in the improved appearance of mature skin.

Two in vivo assays, performed using 2% peptide solution twice a day during 56 days, showed a general improvement in skin complexion and more radiance with 1.5% increase in luminance as well as a rejuvenated skin with epidermal self-renewal activity increased to the level of a skin 17 years younger in the 50-55 years old volunteers and up to 41.3% decrease in skin roughness.

Recently, Lipotrue introduced Seadermium, a water-soluble premium filler (INCI of active ingredient: Bacillus Ferment) that visibly plumps and smooths deep wrinkles in mature skin and can be applied at 4% in skin care. According to the company, the ingredient plumps deep wrinkles by 10% in 14 days, restores and strengthens skin integrity, and moisturizes and smooths the skin, thereby reducing the appearance of wrinkles by 12% in 28 days.

Silab presented its Wellagyl cosmetic active derived from Bulgarian rose that acts on a cellular level to enable fibroblast to age well, while also reactivating tissue metabolism, thus improving skin hydration, firmness, complexion radiance and reducing the appearance of wrinkles. The goal is less about radical anti-aging than the revelation of one’s natural beauty, according to Silab. The ingredient is recommended for all mature skin care products at a use level of 1–2.5%.

Meanwhile, Merck introduced an alcohol-free anti-aging active ingredient, RonaCare Cyclopeptide-5, which mimics natural processes of skin communication using a bionic approach. By triggering cell communication to initiate repair mechanisms in the skin, the ingredient can offer benefits in sensitive or dry skin applications, as well as kosher and halal skin care.
