Exhibitor List Grows for Luxe Pack Monaco 2011

The economic upswing for the beauty industry benefit ted Luxe Pack Monaco 2011's roster of participating companies, which grew by 3%. However, strikes in France are thought to have caused a slight fall in visitors (-3%), though 5,726 did walk the show floor. Some 80 countries were represented, and the total amount of international visitors amounted to 54% of the total number of visitors. The number of attendees from the U.S., Spain and the U.K. was particularly notable.

Show organizers noted the success of the “Innovation Forum” area, in which innovations were presented in an interactive manner—allowing visitors to gain a maximum amount of information in a minimum amount of time. The Trend Observer workshop focused on deciphering the current trends in creative packaging and made them them accessible to visitors through, among other methods, an instructional showcase.

Among the conferences, Organic Monitor's general manager, Amarjit Sahota, presented a tract regarding the packaging of organic cosmetics; and Emilie Copperman, senior perfumer, Symrise, led a discussion regarding the creation of perfumes and their packaging. Marc Rosen monitored the “Looking Back To See The Future” panel—which featured Lynne Greene, president, Clinique; Rochelle Bloom, president, The Fragrance Foundation; Tim Bell, vice president, innovation and sustainability, Eastman Chemical; and Terry Young, managing director, RAPP a unit of Omnicom Group, Inc. The group explored how the industry can reinvent itself by looking back to the successes and inspiration of its past. Additional coverage of this tract will be available in GCI's December Starting Point column and in the January/February issue.

As a 2010 extension of the "Luxe Pack in Green” exhibition space, the inaugural "Luxe Pack in Green” Award, designed to recognize sustainable packaging solutions utilized by luxury brands to address consumers' increasing concern for environmental issues, went to Promens for its Ecolution product.
