HBA Conferences Cover Full Product Development Cycle

Leading experts and innovators from the beauty industry are part of the presenting faculty at the HBA Global Conference, taking place June 28–30 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York. Organized around five tracks, the HBA Conference will cover sessions on marketing, technical advancements, green products and sustainability, international business and the latest in skin care.

The three-day Marketing program kicks-off with a “Marketing Innovations” panel led by marketer and brand strategist Mike Indursky, president, Bliss Worldwide. He will be joined by marketing influencers Kevin Kells from Google and Ty Montague from Co Collective, as they take a look at doing things differently as the key to success to marketing, communications and new product development. Other relevant presentations will discuss how to bring attention and increase sales to brands or new lines across diverse channels and demographics. Top beauty brands and retailers will also share their perspective on the hottest trends, distribution channels, social media strategies and winning tools of the trade to drive sales. Speakers include marketing, branding and creative minds from Maybelline, Laura Mercier, Hautelook, Living Proof, Duane Reade, Stila, QVC, Colgate-Palmolive, Organic Male, Bloomingdales, Redken/Pureology and Fusion Brands.

Various technical advancements and business strategies for developing greener and authentic personal care products is on the agenda for the green track. Sustainability and naturals from A to Z will be covered, including launching a successful green product, naturally derived products and processes, industry trends and philanthropy initiatives. The green movements’ biggest players are scheduled to speak including Aveda, Burt’s Bees, Estée Lauder, Weleda, Environmental Packaging International, Global Institute Bioexploration, and Kahina Giving Beauty.

The international track sessions will provide brand owners with a road map on how to expand their business and sell in high growth countries. The track kicks-off with a strategic overview of the global cosmetic market and worldwide trends presented by Karen Grant of NPD Group, and moderated by Jeff Falk, editor of GCI. Leading international brands, analysts and consultants from Euromonitor, Natura Cosmeticos, Amway and Energizer Personal Care are among the presenters.

Skin care will have a dedicated track at HBA Global this year. With consumers of all ages and demographics wanting high performance products, this category is experiencing a surge in innovation and demand. This track will feature leading experts exploring new technological breakthroughs, novel ingredients, the latest in anti-aging and skin health, trends for the market and future developments. This new track kick-offs with a powerful session on Total Body Skincare led by skin pioneer Howard Murad, MD. Other expert speakers come from Aveda, Estée Lauder, Wendy Lewis Beauty, Christina Cosmecuticals and Dr. Dennis Gross Skincare, to name a few.

The technical track covers all aspects of a products developmental life cycle. Sessions include changing global regulations, active ingredients, new technologies and research that is revolutionizing the beauty and personal care industry and fueling the innovation pipeline. Esteemed speakers come from Coty, Estée Lauder, J&J, Princeton University, Sadick Dermatology, Unilever and members of the Controlled Release Society.

The innovators of Cosmetic Valley, the world's leading perfume and manufacturing network, will provide an in-depth look at some of the most exciting new developments in ingredients, processes, packaging and more coming out of France today. The presentation titled: “French Morning by Cosmetic Valley: Innovation and Sustainable Projects,” will take place on Thursday, June 30. It is the first visit for representatives of Cosmetic Valley to HBA.

HBA Global Expo & Conference kicks off with a Keynote Address by Dan Brestle, chairman of the board for the Personal Care Products Council (PCPC) and retired from the Estée Lauder Companies after more than 30 years in top leadership positions and presiding over its well-known portfolio of brands. His high level speech takes place in the Special Events Hall on Tuesday, June 28 at 9 AM.
