Essence magazines—honored 10 women who have made a difference in the lives of young women through Maybelline’s Empowerment Through Education program. During a celebratory luncheon, held at The New York Public Library’s Trustee Room,
Karen Fondu, president, Maybelline New York-Garnier;
Paul Caine, president, Time Inc. Entertainment Group;
Cheryl Vitali, senior vice president of marketing, Maybelline New York-Garnier; and Maybelline spokespersons
Erin Wasson,
Tomiko Fraser and
Danna Garcia acknowledged these inspiring women.
Checks for $10,000 were presented to the honorees:
Lois Frankel, founder of Motivating Our Students Through Education;
Valerie Hill-Jackson, founder of Barnabas Outreach Foundation; Janine Lee, founder of Capture the Dream;
Abigail Rosin, owner of Groove With Me;
Marcelina Fernandez, counselor at the College Assistance Migrant Program;
Raquel Lee, family advocate at the Greenfield Resource Center;
Dora Marie Abreu, volunteer for Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology;
Lynne Holden, cofounder of Mentoring in Medicine;
Darlene Willis, founder of College Bound San Diego; and
Sheila Joseph, founder of East New York Prep.
