HBA Assumes Rights to Spa & Resort/Medical Aesthetics Conference and Expo

HBA Global Events announced that the Spa & Resort/Medical Aesthetics Conference and Expo will become a regular feature of its annual Beauty Week in New York, starting Sept. 28, 2010 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The co-located events will provide a 360-degree view of the entire product development cycle.

"After successfully co-locating the events in 2009, both exhibitors and attendees agree that the events are complementary and boasted increased traffic and new business opportunities," said Jill Birkett, brand director, beauty & wellness, HBA. "We look forward to enhancing the experience in 2010 and adding more educational content beneficial to plastic surgeons and dermatologists as well as spa owners and skin care professionals."

HBA Global Expo, to be held Sept. 28-30, 2010, is a product development event for the cosmetics, personal care, skin care, fragrance and wellness (beauty) industries, and features more than 600 educational and exhibitor partners. Exhibitors include international suppliers of raw materials and ingredients, packaging materials, dispensing systems, private label and contract manufacturers and testing equipment. The event also includes a three-day conference program focusing on the latest industry trends, new product developments, marketing and branding know-how, as well as the latest in naturals, packaging design and technical advancements.

The Spa & Resort/Medical Aesthetics Conference and Expo, a two-day event from September 28-29, supports the convergence of the traditional and medical segments of the spa and resort industry. Spa, aesthetic, and wellness treatments and services—including skin care and rejuvenation, mineral makeup, tanning products, aromatherapy and injectables—are featured. Attendees include spa/medical aesthetics owners and professionals; estheticians, dermatologists, dentists, plastic surgeons, wellness practitioners, nutritionists and holistic therapists.

The show floors of both events will feature hundreds of new products in the beauty, spa and aesthetic arenas, as well as live product demonstrations and exhibitor presentations. Registered attendees for either the HBA or Spa & Resort Expo can freely visit the exhibit floor of either event with one badge during the days the shows overlap. Admission to the HBA conference program requires a different registration package.

UBM International Media, which owns and produces the HBA Global Expo & Conference, will assume the entire management of the Spa & Resort shows from Reed Business Expositions. Consequently, the West Coast Spa & Resort edition this February will be postponed and all marketing and promotional efforts will be focused on the Beauty Week series of events scheduled for New York in September.

Nancy Largay, vice president of Reed Business Expositions, notes the synergies between HBA Global and the Spa & Resort are what made this deal "click" as the right move for the beauty community. "Reed Exhibitions is pleased to announce that it will transfer the rights to produce and manage Spa & Resort/Medical Aesthetics Conference and Expo NY to UBM International Media. Spa & Resort is a solid brand, with excellent partners, delivering good value for its customers. UBM will provide excellent strategic focus for the future growth of this business and success with HBA Expo," she noted.
