PolyOne and Eastman Chemical Company Form Strategic Alliance

PolyOne Corporation, a global polymer supplier, announced a strategic alliance with Eastman Chemical Company that will enable the companies to combine performance-enhancing additives with Eastman’s Tritan copolyester to develop and market new compounded materials. The agreement also designates PolyOne as the exclusive compounder of filled systems for Eastman’s new durable, heat-resistant copolyester in North America.
The Tritan copolyester offers processing advantages including faster molding cycles, fewer production steps and some reduction in energy usage. Tritan can also be molded with lower levels of residual stress as compared with polycarbonate, making it ideal for molded parts within reusable niche containers that may be washed in the dishwasher.
