Private equity firm San Francisco Equity Partners (SFEP) has announced its acquisition of a majority stake in makeup and skin care brand Jane Iredale.

Along with founder Jane Iredale and her management team, SFEP will lead the company through its next phase of growth. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“San Francisco Equity Partners is the perfect partner for Jane Iredale  and will bring to bear its stellar track record of investing in and building premium consumer brands with authentic stories and high-quality products,” said Andrew Charbin, director at The Sage Group, which represented Jane Iredale in the transaction. “From a distribution perspective, San Francisco Equity Partners has proven expertise in working with flagship retailers to accelerate the growth of its brands, and this is one of several attractive potential avenues of growth for Jane Iredale.”

Added Iredale: “Starting with a modest idea – to create a makeup product that was good for the skin – it’s been an amazing 25-year journey to build one of the world’s leading cosmetics brands. To take the company to the next level, I knew we needed a partner with a proven track record in beauty who would be a good steward to our brand and company. Based on their experience working with leading authentic natural brands, SFEP is the ideal partner to guide us through the next phase.”
