4 Factors Impacting Ulta Beauty's Strong Q3 2018 Performance

Ulta Beauty has announced its financial results for Q3 2018 and the first nine months of fiscal 2018, ended November 3, 2018.

Q3 2018 net sales increased by 16.2% to reach $1.56 billion compared to $1.3 billion in Q3 2017. E-commerce sales during Q3 2018 increased by 42.5% to reach $170.7 million compared to $119.8 million in Q3 2017. Salon sales during Q3 2018 increased 10.7% to reach $74.0 million compared to $66.9 million in Q3 2017.

Ulta Beauty opened 42 stores across the U.S. throughout Q3 2018 and ended the quarter with a total of 1,163 stores.

During the first nine months of fiscal 2018, Ulta Beauty saw net sales increase by 16.3% to reach $4.59 billion compared to $3.9 billion in the first nine months of fiscal 2017. E-commerce sales increased by 42.9% to reach $457.9 million compared to $320.4 million during the same period in 2017. Salon sales increased by 9.8% to reach $223.7 million compared to $203.7 million in the first nine months of fiscal 2017.

“Ulta Beauty’s strong performance in the third quarter reflects continued market share gains across all major categories, acceleration in our overall comp driven by healthy traffic, excellent new store productivity and robust e-commerce growth,” said Mary Dillon, Chief Executive Officer.
