Croda is sponsoring the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) event “100% Certified Sustainable Palm Oil: Our Shared Responsibility” taking place at London’s River Bank Plaza on June 4, 2014. Shin-Etsu Silicones of America premiered its NBN-30-ID cosmetic silicone modified film former materials. The novel polymer was created by the introduction of a silicone group into a polynorbornene, a very rigid polymer. The end result enables the development of a diverse range of cosmetic formulations that offer excellent resistance to oil and water for a range of beauty applications, including foundations, eye shadows, mascaras, lipsticks, skin lotions, creams, sunscreens, hair care and more. The polymer forms a hard and tough film that, when dried, provides a smooth feeling and low tackiness.

Lipotec introduced a new marine ingredient, ActiGym, which, by mimicking the effect of an endurance training-like effect, is directed at improving body definition and redefining areas sensitive to sagging, duet to aging or insufficient physical activity. ActiGym has proven efficacy in increasing the release of adiponectin from adipose release. This protein is released under aerobic training conditions and signals the skeletal muscle to enhance metabolism of tonic fibers and their mitochondrial activity, so they can provide extra support to arms, legs and the abdomen.

Dow Consumer & Industrial Solutions highlighted two ingredients at the NYSCC Supplier’s Day 2014 in New Jersey: EcoSmooth Delight, a novel sensorial enhancer designed to make luxury affordable to mass market skin care products, offering indulgence and premium feel and the flexibility to formulate silicone-free products; and Acylyn Excel Rheology Modifier, a new suspension aid that helps product developers create multifunctional skin cleansing products with specialized beauty benefits, such as moisturizing and anti-aging, through the excellent suspension of beads and bubbles. It offers the ability to formulate at low pH values for products that are mild to the skin while exhibiting good clarity.

Under the name BergaCare SB Organic, Berg + Schmidt now offers a shea butter certified as “Organic/Bio” to the strict criteria of Ecocert Deutschland GmbH. With BergaCare SB Organic shea butter, Berg + Schmidt has a solution for producers of natural cosmetics. Novacyl is now offering its YOS H Homosalate UV filter to sun care product manufacturers and brands all around the world. Homosalate is an oil-soluble chemical sun-locking agent that absorbs UVB radiation. It is an excellent solvent and booster, as well as a good stabilizer for other sunscreen actives. Producers of sunscreens may use YOS H Homosalate in formulations up to 15% in the U.S. and 10% in Europe, the Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
