Indena Green Tea Extract Awarded

Indena announced that it has been chosen by Frost & Sullivan as the winner of the 2008 European Green Tea Extracts Excellence in Research Award. Each year, the Frost & Sullivan Excellence in Research Award is given to the company that has carried out new disruptive research and has, in general, a strong commitment to research and development. The award recognizes a research and development program that has or is expected to bring significant contributions to the industry in terms of adoption, change and competitive posture.

According to Frost & Sullivan, the 2008 European Green Tea Extracts Excellence in Research Award is presented to Indena “having established itself as a key player in the natural extracts sector for over 80 years. Indena entered the green tea extracts market in the late 1980s and, since then, has gone from strength to strength by focussing on intensive research into these extracts... Today, Indena is the leader in terms of safety, efficacy, innovation, and its standardized extracts are the point of reference for the market. Such comprehensive and outstanding position in research endorses Indena as the worthy recipient of the 2008 European Green Tea Extracts Excellence in Research Award.”

Indena offers Greenselect, green tea extract that consists of a totally standardized polyphenolic fraction obtained from green tea leaves. Indena introduced its caffeine-free extract from green tea leaves, characterized by a high content (not less than 66.5%) of polyphenols, with the main constituent epigallocatechin 3-O-gallate accounting for not less than 50% of the extract. Greenselect is aimed at both the health food and cosmetics markets as an antioxidant.

The Award will be presented on November 11th at the Frost & Sullivan Banquet in London.
