Cosmetic Research Lab (CRL) has been granted a patent by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its Prebiotic Activ Technology, used in the company’s SkinSanity and DermOne Skincare brands.

The technology is designed to treat mild to moderate acne and accelerated aging, utilizing a synergized, patented extract of organic blackcurrants and European wild-crafted pine. It nurtures friendly bacteria, enabling them to outcompete the harmful ones to naturally treat skin issues.

Additionally, CRL has published The Beauty Watch List, a comprehensive guide identifying more than 1,300 ingredients known to be harmful to human health. Available for download on the CRL website, the guide was complied fully with EU Cosmetics Regulations. It is co-sponsor on “The Personal care Products Safety Act,” a bi-partisan bill aimed at reforming FDA ingredient regulations of personal care products.

“Personal care products should support our health, not compromise it,” said co-founder Karen Sinclair Drake. “It’s been a staggering 80 years since Congress last passed cosmetics law and with only eight ingredients being banned in the U.S.”

“We are proud to be the first beauty and wellness company to openly share, not just all EU banned ingredients, but an expanded list of 13 classifications that give cause for concern and why. The Beauty Watch List provides a helping hand in understanding these ingredients and is a much easier way of learning what’s what.”
