Luxe Pack Monaco Launches Green Award

For its 2010 show, Luxe Pack Monaco, October 20–22 at the Grimaldi Forum in Monaco, announced the inaugural "Luxe Pack in Green” Award, designed to recognize sustainable packaging solutions utilized by luxury brands to address consumers' increasing concern for environmental issues.

In 2009, the "Luxe Pack in Green” exhibition space demonstrated that luxury brand stakeholders are becoming increasingly interested in developing and embracing sustainable solutions. New products and applications that were compliant with environmental standards and were classified according to the material being used were showcased. The new award will be bestowed on the best innovative solution presented by an exhibitor. Packaging considered for the award must incorporate one or more sustainable development criteria.

The award jury is comprised of sustainable development professionals who work for institutions, luxury brands and media partners:

  • Michel Fontaine, president, French Packaging Council
  • Alexandre Capelli, sustainable development, LVMH
  • Elizabeth Pastore-Reiss, founding director, Ethicity (a sustainable development consultant)
  • Catherine O'Meny, editor and founder, abc-luxe.com

The award will be presented October 20. The trophy was designed for the event by Alnoor Design, a design agency that will be participating in the Luxe Pack Monaco exhibition.

In 2009, a total of 330 companies exhibited, 78 for the first time, offering a new and more extensive selection of business lines, know-how and materials. Although visitor numbers were down by 8.6%, with nearly 55% of total attendees coming from overseas, the professional profile was very high. Organizers continue to emphasize the show's networking opportunities and focus on free training sessions with a strong educational content.
