Cosmoprof Announces Private Label Session

Cosmoprof North America (July 18–20 at the Mandalay Convention Center in Las Vegas) announced the addition of the Private Label Marketing and Packaging—Finding the Mix that Maximizes ROI session, designed to help navigate the nearly limitless combinations of marketing and packaging options available to new or existing brands. A panel will explore what has worked, what hasn't worked and provide a glimpse of what will work when it comes to launching your own brand or project under your own name.

Ian Ginsberg, pharmacist/proprietor of C.O. Bigelow, will address the retailer's perspective on what works in store at point of sale. Speaking from the creative side, Andy Johnson, creative partner of United* DSN will touch on packaging trends. Finally, Pam Busiek, president/co-owner of CBI Laboratories, will highlight the successes and failures that can arise from embarking on a private label.

Ginsberg has scoured the globe year after year to create a collection of beauty imports from all over the world. Several luxury products validate the C.O. Bigelow slogan, "If you can't find it anywhere else, try Bigelow." Hailed by WWD as "The Apothecary Guru," Ginsberg is a current board member and past president of the Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors Association (ICMAD), and is an annual guest speaker at New York University's Berkley Center for Entrepreneurial Studies—as well as the Arnold and Marie Schwartz College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences of Long Island University.

Johnson joined forces with partners Lawrence Haggerty and Perry Seelert in 2006 to launch United* DSN, which in a short period of time has become an award- winning creative agency with offices in both New York and San Francisco. Johnson has led the company's expansion into multiple disciplines, from strategic brand planning and packaging design to print and Web development. Johnson was integral in increasing the design department's revenue from $3 million in 2002 to $7 million in 2005 while elevating the level of creativity to award-winning status.

Busiek influenced the professional skin care world through her insistence on excellence, innovation results-oriented products within the retail and service business of salons, spas, medical, and wellness industries. CBI, based in Fort Worth Texas, is a manufacturer of private label and custom skin care products with a legacy of building prestigious brands. As a veteran of the beauty industry who has been a part of many successful product launches, Busiek is an example of excellence in leadership. This is seen through the launch of her first international skin care company where she was one of CBI's largest customers, her eventual acquisition of the company, and currently accelerating its growth and international recognition.

Private Label Marketing and Packaging—Finding the Mix that Maximizes ROI is scheduled for Monday, July 19, 2010, 1:30–3 pm in Pavilion D on the Cosmoprof North America show floor. Phillip Russo, publisher of Private Label Magazine, will serve as the moderator of this panel.
