[video] Cosmetics R&D Vlog: COVID-19 in the Indian Market and Ways Forward

"The cosmetic industry in India is, at present, at a standstill apart from personal care—mostly hygiene products and sanitizers ... Those fall under the essential category," said Renuka Thergaonkar, Ph.D., president of the Indian SCC and consultant, R&D Global Consultants. "The rest of the industry is at a hold."

She added most cosmetic R&D colleagues have been working from home, during the then-45-day lockdown (which is currently projected until May 17), although productivity has been hampered. Meetings have been happening digitally between the government and associations, and new policies are being made; so the time is being utilized. Companies also are creating and starting new concepts, such as changing their manufacturing scenarios. 

After the lockdown, however, Thergaonkar believes manufacturing activities will increase and more foreign companies will look to India to produce their products. Learn more from this Cosmetics R&D Vlog entry:
