For the past 50 years, Beraca, a leading provider of natural ingredients sourced from the Brazilian biodiversity, has been investing in the development of sustainable technologies. Through its health and personal care division, Beraca is a leading provider in sourcing organic and natural ingredients from the Amazon rainforest and other Brazilian biomes.
Ulisses Sabará, Beraca’s president, comments on ingredient trends, saying, “Beraca has seen a growing worldwide interest in our Rain Forest Performance oils for use in hair care products. Active ingredients that add shine to hair and provide an anti-frizz effect are among the most sought-after.”
The L’Oréal Professional brand is now using Beraca’s murumuru butter as a core ingredient in its products. “Known as ‘the new argan oil,’ the murumuru butter is a powerful emollient agent, rich in lauric, myristic and oleic acids,” states Sabará. “Another ingredient that has been in the spotlight is the patauá oil, a powerful moisturizing agent with high oleic acid content (75%) and unique properties such as transparency and a light, non-greasy feel. It can be used as a cost-effective substitute for olive oil in skin care and hair care products due to similarities in their fatty acid chain. Cupuaçu butter has also been gaining a lot of attention lately for its use in skin care products due to its long-lasting moisturizing effect, which helps reducing skin water loss.”
