Hair Color, Styling Agents Display Value in Australia

Hair care is expected to be one of the top five health and beauty sectors in Australia over the next five years, according to market research company Canadean. It has the value CAGR of 0.9% between 2012 and 2017, and volume will grow at a CAGR of 3.4% for the same period.

Shampoo held the majority share of the sector in 2012. It had value and volume shares of 32.9% and 31.2%. However, the category is to decline at a value CAGR of -0.2% to 2017, with volume growing at a CAGR of 2%.

The hair colorant and styling agent categories display value and volumes CAGRs to 2017. Hair colorants will show most growth, with a value CAGR of 3.8% and volume CAGR of 5.9% over this period. Styling agents will grow at a value and volume CAGR of 2% and 3.7%.

Perms and relaxers will decline over the next five year with a value and volume CAGR of -4.8% and -4.2% to 2017.
