George Hammer, Chairman of Urban Retreats Ltd: Hammer began his transition from fashion to the beauty industry in 1980 when he took over The Sanctuary in Covent Garden, transforming it into the world’s first urban day spa. He then brought Aveda into the UK and helped the company build it into a global leader. He opened Urban Retreat on the fifth floor of Harrods in 2002, creating the benchmark for the beauty industry’s first "super-salon." This year, Hammer launched Urban Retreat at Home, designed to bring the same service and luxury customers have come to expect from the Urban Retreat salons into the comfort of their own homes. He has also partnered with the well-respected London School of Beauty and Make-up to develop the an independent beauty industry school. In 2009, as a part of his philanthropic efforts, he launched the All For Eve beauty brand with the sole purpose of raising funds and awareness for gynecological cancer research by donating all net profits to The Eve Appeal.
