Leaders Gather at Personal Care Products Council Meeting

Posted: February 28, 2008
At the General Session of the Personal Care Products Council Annual Meeting today, industry leaders convened to hear new Council chairman Daniel J. Brestle, COO, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc., deliver an inaugural speech focused on the Council’s goals for 2008. Outgoing Council Chairman Marc Pritchard, president, global strategy, Procter & Gamble and Council president and CEO Pamela Bailey, highlighted recent progress as well as the Council’s continued efforts on behalf of consumers. In addition, Chairman, President & CEO of Macy’s, Inc. and keynote speaker, Terry Lundgren addressed the changing retail landscape and the impact on personal care products companies.

The theme of the 114th Annual Meeting, “A Vision of Beauty Through the Eyes of the Consumer,” reinforced the Council’s commitment to consumers. In 2007, the association launched a consumer information Web site, www.CosmeticsInfo.org, which provides comprehensive, scientific safety information about personal care products and their ingredients. During that time, the association, originally CTFA, also changed its name to the Personal Care Products Council to better reflect the scope of its membership and its commitment to safety, quality, and innovation.

“The Council has undergone an immense transformation in the last several years,” said Pamela Bailey during her speech. “We have taken on greater responsibility and significantly expanded our mission to actively demonstrate our commitment to consumers. This consumer focus has been at the core of our industry for decades, and will be our guiding principle in years to come.”

“I want to extend a special thanks to our chairman, Marc Pritchard,” she continued, “on behalf of our Association, the Board, and all of our member companies, thank you for your leadership and dedication during these past three years of important change.”

Outgoing Chairman Marc Pritchard highlighted the Council’s achievements over the past few years, and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to preside over an organization dedicated and determined to meet the evolving needs of consumers and the companies that serve them.
