ICMAD Looks at Beauty Industry Trends, Challenges at Cosmoprof

The Independent Cosmetic Manufacturers and Distributors (ICMAD) announced its presence at the Cosmoprof North America event taking place July 22–24 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. ICMAD will host two educational sessions and a breakfast during the show that discuss the latest challenges facing the beauty industry and the latest trends hitting the market.

The sessions include “Color Your World: Your Brand in Color,” taking place on Sunday, July 22, with speakers Daniel Kiyoi, associate are director of Tarte; Kelly Kovack, chair of the beauty forecast committee for The Color Association; Vita Raykhman, creative director of Amika; and Pam Busiek, president and CEO of ICMAD. This session will focus on how color and design play an important role in packaging design and how it can ultimately affect what consumers' purchase, citing dynamic brands with powerful visuals, clever copy and eye-catching packaging.

Additionally, “ICMAD: Top 3 Challenges Facing Today's Entrepreneurs” (sponsored by The Beauty Company) on Monday, July 23 will serve a full breakfast while current information shared on the three greatest challenges facing the beauty industry by a team of experts.( The cost for this session is $45, with breakfast and materials included, and can be registered for here.) Speakers include Sharon Blinkoff of Venable LLP and ICMAD chair of government relations; Halyna Breslawec, PhD, PCPC chief scientist; Carl Gefken, consultant and ICMAD international chair; and Craig Weiss of Consumer Product Testing and ICMAD chair of technical and regulatory.

And the “It's All In the Details—A Legislative Update form ICMAD, PBA and PCPC” on Monday, July 23 will discuss the government's current plan to tighten regulation of cosmetics products. A change in the current laws would impact everyone working in the industry—manufacturers of private label, contract manufacturers, suppliers and distributors in all facets of the industry—and to protect the interest of the industry, these three beauty associations have collaborated to ensure the industry comes out stronger. Speakers for this session include Pam Busiek, president and CEO of ICMAD; John Hurson, EVP of government affairs for the PCPC; and Steve Sleeper, executive director of the PBA.
