Sun Chemical announced the launch of its ten new SunPrizma color effects pearlescent pigments, allowing for the creation of new looks. According to the company, the product’s unique color-travel properties are created by light reflected at different angles. The materials are free from absorption pigments such as carmine, ferric ferranocyanide and chromium oxide. As the viewing angle of the color is changed, so is the appearance of the color. The company reports that the secret to the breakthrough tones in this color range is their unique composition—when conventional pigments are rubbed into skin, the black iron oxide platelets generally found in them separate, creating a darkening effect, which does not occur with this new pigment line. Ciba launched a cationic rheology modifier for hair and skin care products. Tinovis CD is a  cationic liquid dispersion polymer that provides “focused conditioning” for hair without unwanted buildup. It is also said to possess: • excellent sensory properties for hair and skin care applications, multifunctionality for reduced overall formulation cost and enhanced performance of hair care and skin care actives. According to the company, the polymer is compatible with a wide range of commonly used personal care ingredients and can be used in a variety of products such as rinse-off and leave-in hair conditioners, hair dressing and styling aids, sunless tanning products and sprayable sunscreens.

, a branch of DSM Nutritional Products Ltd. presented Cosmeceut Extreme, a combination of active ingredients with extreme protecting properties. Pepha-protect is incorporated into the combination as the skin’s bodyguard and to prevent DNA damage caused by UV radiation. In addition, the formulation contains the UV absorber Parsol SLX in a synergistic combination with Parsol HS, Parsol 1789 and the co-absorber Parsol 340 to achieve a high SPF of 45 with a low content of UV filters.
