CEW Honors Achievers; Industry Excellence

Four of the beauty industry’s most accomplished and high-achieving women were honored on Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at the CEW annual Achiever Awards luncheon at the Waldorf=Astoria. The annual award recognizes the professional successes of prominent women in the fields of beauty, fragrance and related industries. “Recognizing the achievement of these powerful, women leaders is what makes the Achiever Awards unique,” says Carlotta Jacobson, CEW President.

The 2009 CEW Achievers were:

Esi Eggleston Bracey, Vice President of Global Cosmetics, P&G Beauty & Grooming: Bracy oversees more than $2 billion in retail sales, leading P&G’s Covergirl and Max Factor brands globally. At 34, Bracey became one of the youngest general manager appointees in P&G’s history. Bracey’s award was presented by Queen Latifah, whose emergence as a national Covergirl was one of Bracey’s most defining moments in beauty.

Terry Darland, President NA, Christian Dior Parfums LLC: Darland has been a veteran of the luxury cosmetic, skin care and fragrance industry for 30 years. She began her career with the Estée Lauder Companies in 1980 as Clinique’s first account coordinator in the United States, where she quickly climbed the ranks before moving to Christian Dior Perfumes in 2004. Darland’s award was presented by her mentor, Pamela Baxter, president/CEO LVMH Perfumes & Cosmetics, NA, President/CEO Christian Dior Inc.

Veronique Gabai-Pinsky, Global Brand President, Aramis & Designer Fragrances, BeautyBank, IdeaBank, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.: Gabai-Pinsky has a résumé that gleams with many other highlights, such as serving as vice president of marketing for Giorgio Armani (where she introduced the highly successful Acqua di Gio for men), and executive vice president and general manager for fine fragrance, North America for Symrise and its predecessor, Dragoco. Gabai-Pinsky’s award was presented by Fabrizio Freda, president and CEO, The Estée Lauder Companies Inc.

Nicky Kinnaird, President & Founder, Space NK: Kinnaird launched the first Space NK lifestyle store in 1993. Space NK is a unique combination of product and service. It sells a highly edited selection of beauty products sourced from all over the world and offers one-on-one personal service to the customer to fulfill her every beauty need. Kinnaird’s award was presented by Michael Gould, chairman and CEO, Bloomingdale's.
