Beiersdorf Reports Q2

Beiersdorf posted group sales growth of 11.5% (adjusted for currency translation effects) to €3,091 million for the first half of 2008. EBIT margin in consumer business segment (excluding special factors) climbed to 13.5%.

"With organic growth of 8.3%, Beiersdorf is growing at least twice as fast as the market and is gaining market share in its strategic growth regions," said Thomas-B. Quaas, chairman of the executive board, Beiersdorf AG. "Business in Germany is back on a growth path in a difficult market. The integration of the C-BONS Hair Care business in China has been fully in line with our expectations during the first half of the year, with sales developing well. As planned, substantial investments are being made in marketing to support the Chinese hair care brands.

"We successfully implemented a strategy change in the USA and again generated outstanding organic growth in our focus categories thanks to a new marketing campaign. We have increased our market share and aim to occupy number one positions in these segments for the first time in the coming years."
