The industry thrived over the two day event, showcasing the latest in cosmetic science and R&D. While some companies took the opportunity to launch new ingredients at in-cosmetics Global in the weeks prior to the event, many reserved new launches for New York.

Both recent and new launches included: Sharon Personal Care's Aquavita, Syensqo's ceramides, Ashland' transformed vegetable oil, BASF's Epispot, Elementis' Bentone Hydroluxe 360, Croda's SphingoCare, LBB Specialties' AI powered personalization and many, many more.

The Buzz

Seven trends stood out above the rest:

  1. Simplified beauty;
  2. Scalp care;
  3. Holistic approaches;
  4. Renassiance of old ingredients;
  5. Biotech and fermentation;
  6. Skinification;
  7. Synthetic biology.

Considering these seven trends, the industry is making moves toward further scientific developments without overcomplication. Perhaps driven by consumer demand to understand the ingredients in their products and for natural alternatives, the simplification of beauty does not imply a lack of science and innovation, but a greater understanding of products from the lab to the shelf.
