Global Cosmetic Industry spoke with beauty insiders to highlight recent skin care and bath and body trends, as well as launches in these spaces for ingredients and packaging.

Fermented Active Ingredients

Miriam Mateu, product management at LipoTrue, says, “We saw a lot of innovation in the fermented active ingredients industry at the latest edition of the in-cosmetics Global in Barcelona. The fermentation procedure allows to produce exclusive active components with high efficacy and wide range of applications in a very sustainable manner, since it does not require extraction from wild resources and does not affect the ecosystem.”

Mateu continues, “We have just launched V/WA, a fully vertically integrated active ingredient, obtained from the fermentation of a newly identified Alteromonas species: Alteromonas lipotrueae. It acts on neuritogenesis and neuronal migration, synaptic vesicle recycling, and muscular contraction to relax expression wrinkles. V/WA instantly smoothes crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles, as well as those difficult hidden creases exposed when smiling or frowning. We have also launched Poptide, a cyclic peptide that improves protein folding in the endoplasmic reticulum and the fluctuation of wrinkles (what we call the wrinkle’s daily cycle), which are more pronounced in the evening due to gravity and facial expressions.”
