Eastman continues to make strides in sustainable packaging solutions, collaborating with industry leaders to elevate the standards of eco-friendly luxury packaging. At this year's Cosmoprof Bologna event, Eastman is showcasing its commitment to innovation, premium aesthetics, and sustainability in the cosmetics sector.

RecyClass Recyclability Approvals and Cristal Renew IM812

Eastman recently achieved RecyClass Recyclability Approval for eight of its high-performance PET resins for cosmetic packaging, including Cristal™ One Renew IM812. This material represents a major breakthrough, combining sustainability with luxury aesthetics. Cristal Renew IM812 is recyclable (RIC1), made with up to 100% certified recycled content via mass balance, and offers glass-like clarity and gloss. It allows for the production of thick, high-transparency parts, providing luxury brands with eco-conscious solutions without sacrificing performance or aesthetic appeal.

Collaboration with Axilone for Sustainable Luxury

Eastman has teamed up with Axilone, a leader in luxury cosmetic packaging, to create sustainable and recyclable solutions for premium beauty brands. Axilone has adopted Cristal Renew IM812 for various applications, including high-end fragrance and skin care caps, lipsticks, and sun sticks. This collaboration enables premium brands to integrate eco-friendly materials into their packaging with no compromise on quality or customization.

"Eastman is proud of this project that reflects the power of collaboration to shape the future of sustainable cosmetics packaging," said Tara Cary, global marketing manager for cosmetics at Eastman.

Reynald Trochel, innovation director at Axilone, added, "Cristal Renew IM812 meets the highest standards of recyclability, aesthetics, and functionality, making it a perfect fit for luxury brands seeking sustainable solutions."

This collaboration will be showcased at PCD Paris 2025 and MULA 2025, highlighting Axilone's Everlast lipsticks and other sustainable mono-material packaging options.

FANCL’s Circular Packaging with Eastman Tritan

In another development, Japanese cosmetics brand FANCL has launched its new sustainable skin care line, Toiro, featuring reusable packaging made with Eastman Tritan copolyester. This durable, shatter-proof material is perfect for refillable bottles and caps, significantly reducing plastic waste. Customers purchase the Tritan bottle once and simply replace the refill cartridges, effectively integrating sustainability into their skin care routine.

"FANCL needed a material that could check a lot of boxes—durability, chemical resistance, and aesthetics," said Cary. "Tritan delivers on all fronts, making it ideal for consumers committed to sustainable beauty."
