Ashland Global Holdings Inc. has announced the opening of a research and development center for microbial protection in Hamburg, Germany that hosts chemists, microbiologists and technicians within five personal care labs.

The labs will service customers locally with methods including the Cosmetic Preservation Efficacy Test (CosPET). The service approach will feature antimicrobial efficacy testing for cosmetics and includes aiding formulation challenges in skin care, hair care and oral care.

Technical support This team includes experts in preservatives and multifunctionals and supports customers and their focus on consumer trends.

Product development  This team performs efficacy tests and stability, compatibility and texture studies for performance and protection from microbial contamination.

Microbiology team  This team performs different bioburden tests, supporting customers and Ashland R&D teams and developing customized tests when necessary. 

Researchers  This team focuses on future antimicrobial solutions with AI-based screening, evaluations of new candidates and exploration of sustainable ways to produce ingredients.
