According to the company, this phytoactive ingredient was crafted by white biotechnology and is activated by the skin microflora, leveraging the company’s biocatalysis and microbiomics expertise. Following activation by the skin microbiome, Masknyl offers triple action on the skin at a biological level.

Clinical tests in mask-wearing volunteers demonstrated the phytoactive:

  • Visibly reduced red spots and healed skin inflammation on irritated facial sites by 34% versus the placebo in 24 hr;
  • Controlled and reduced hyperpigmentation and diminished brown spots by 3.5% versus the placebo in 4 days; and
  • Improved skin comfort and texture, with 74% of panelists indicating their skin was softer and less tight after using the ingredient.

In addition to the release of this active, Givaudan's Active Beauty team crafted its Mask Tonic formula powered by Masknyl to prevent skin discomfort caused by mask-wearing. According to the company, the tonic is suitable for all skin types in individuals ages 3 and older. The 92% natural-origin, genderless day cream reportedly reduces redness and controls hyperpigmentation.

Further, thanks to its PrimalHyal 300 (INCI: Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid) and Unitamuron H22 Green (INCI: Not Provided) content, the tonic protects, repairs and increases elasticity. Application of this light emulsion is said to provide a delicate sensation of freshness, leaving skin hydrated even when covered.
