[gallery] Pratt Celebrates 30 Years of Marc Rosen Scholarship and Education Fund at 2019 Art of Packaging Gala

Pratt Institute held its annual Art of Packaging Gala, celebrating excellence in packaging design, June 18, 2019 in New York City.

Hosted by model and actress Carol Alt, the event also celebrated the 30th anniversary of the Marc Rosen Scholarship Fund, awarded to master’s degree-level students pursuing careers in packaging design. In 2015, the fund established two full tuition scholarships focused on beauty packaging and design. To date, more than $4 million has been raised, assisting more than 120 Pratt students.

Jane Lauder, global brand president, Clinique, received the 2019 Art of Packaging Award, presented by Estée Lauder executive group president John Demsey. The award is presented to beauty industry individuals or companies that have excelled at packaging design.

After thanking her team members and mentors, Lauder took a moment to look forward. “Our task is to constantly re-imagine for the modern consumer, and to define a new era of personalization through innovative, specially developed packaging like we have with our recent launch of Clinique ID,” she said.

“Our focus on the future—reflecting on the urgency of our time—is to provide even more sustainability in our packaging, while still delivering all that our consumers have come to love and expect from us.”

Jaynne Keyes, appointee to the New York State Council on the Arts, present Rosen with a special proclamation of commendation from Gov. Andrew Cuomo, recognizing Rosen’s “continuing efforts to promote and enrich the New York culture and art communities.”

After being presented with his commendation, Rosen recognized the 2019 scholarship winners and merit award recipients:

  • Marc Rosen Scholarship for Packaging by Design Recipients—Alison Chen and Hadar Kfir
  • Merit Award Recipients—Brittany Collins, Zhangue He, Lushun Lei, Ching Wu, Jingyao Yuan, Xiaoli Zhang
