BioEstolide (INCI: Ethylhexyl Acetoxystearate) by Biosynthetic Technologies is a plant-based, patented ester made from natural seed oils for personal care applications.

The ingredient enhances the stability properties and moisturizing characteristics of formulas and adds and a light, satin feel. This product is reportedly sustainable and manufactured in a negative carbon footprint manufacturing facility.

The multifunctional benefits of BioEstolide range from sensorial to functional. As an emollient, it hydrates, softens and smooths the skin surface with a luxurious sensory experience but without leaving an oily residue on the skin. It also thickens formulations to enhance their consistency, viscosity and volume, and its high refractive index enhances the appearance of formulations while adding inherent UV protection.

BioEstolide serves as a solvent to ensure ingredients mix and function properly, and its polar nature supports pigment dispersion. It also acts as a stabilizer, providing oxidative and hydrolytic stability and, in turn, extending the shelf life of products. Finally, BioEstolide is reportedly non-toxic and non-comedogenic.
