Every innovation begins with a question. And very often, it is the younger generations who ask the most interesting ones.

In a constantly evolving sector such as cosmetic packaging, designing the future means being able to look beyond the product itself: imagining new experiences, interpreting changes in society and transforming ideas into concrete solutions. For this reason, today more than ever, dialogue between industry and academia represents a fundamental driver of innovation.

Baralan and Istituto Marangoni announce an exclusive collaboration dedicated to educating the next generation of professionals in the beauty packaging industry, with the aim of bringing students closer to the real dynamics of the cosmetic packaging sector and fostering direct dialogue between academia and industry.

The partnership involves students from Istituto Marangoni’s Master’s and Bachelor’s programmes, allowing them to explore the relationship between creativity, innovation, functionality and brand identity.

A Bridge Between Education and Industry

For more than sixty years, Baralan has supported the evolution of cosmetic packaging through research, innovation and technological development. Today, this same vision is also reflected in the desire to share expertise, experience and know-how with those preparing to become the industry professionals of tomorrow.

The collaboration was designed to create a bridge between education and industry, giving students the opportunity to engage with real sector challenges while, at the same time, allowing the company to open itself up to new perspectives, sensitivities and design approaches.

On the one hand, Istituto Marangoni Milano, which has consolidated its educational offering in the areas of management and beauty, confirms an educational model that has always been based on direct engagement with the market and collaboration with leading industry players. On the other hand, for Baralan, investing in young people means investing in the future of the entire sector.

From Education to Real Industry Challenges

Launched in the 2025–2026 academic year as part of Istituto Marangoni Milano’s Master in Marketing & Communication for Fragrances & Cosmetics, the collaboration marks the Institute’s first exclusive partnership with a company specializing in cosmetic packaging. The initiative continues into the new academic year, engaging third-year students of the Bachelor in Fragrances & Cosmetics Product & Communication as part of their Packaging Design course.

As part of the collaboration, Baralan makes its expertise in primary packaging for the beauty industry available to students, guiding them through the different stages that lead from the development of a concept to the creation of a concrete solution.

Throughout the year, students will take part in lectures, company presentations and direct discussions with Baralan professionals. The starting point will be a brief developed by the company around a real industry challenge, inviting students to create a packaging concept capable of combining creativity and feasibility while interpreting Baralan’s values — innovation, sustainability and inclusivity — in light of the market’s evolving needs.

Students will therefore have the opportunity to engage with real industry requirements and dynamics, transforming their creative and design skills into proposals capable of responding to the contemporary challenges of the beauty market.

Packaging as a Learning Experience

Through this project, packaging becomes a tool for learning the working methods of a real company, dealing with processes, constraints and objectives. At the same time, Baralan comes into contact with new ideas and emerging design languages, creating an exchange that enriches both parties.

In 2027, the year of its 65th anniversary, Baralan will recognise the most deserving projects through a development opportunity with strong educational value, designed to support students in their professional journey.

Investing Today in the Professionals of Tomorrow

The initiative confirms Istituto Marangoni’s commitment to developing market-ready talent capable of interpreting and anticipating the needs of an ever-evolving market, as well as Baralan’s desire to support the new generations, contributing to the growth of tomorrow’s professionals while remaining open to their new perspectives.

Through this project, Istituto Marangoni further strengthens its positioning as an international reference point in higher education across fashion, design and luxury, while expanding its commitment to developing the future protagonists of the global beauty industry.

The future of cosmetic packaging does not depend only on new materials and technologies, but also on the ability to bring together experience, creativity and emerging visions.
