An all-natural patented (US Patent# 7214392) preservative for multiple personal care and cosmetic applications, creams, shampoos, lotions, etc.
A proprietary synergistic blend of botanical extracts and essential oils that has anti-microbial and anti-fungal benefits, this liquid product has a minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.45%. against a broad spectrum of organisms, including possible pathogenic organisms that may be introduced into products. These organisms include gram positive staphylococcus aureus, gram negative Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Klebsiella pneumoniae and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, acid–fast bacterium Mycobacterium smegmatis, the yeast Candida albicans and the filamentous mold Aspergillus niger. Suprapein® was compared to phenoxyethanol, methylparaben and propylparaben and performed as well or better against these organisms.
Consumers, who have been leaning towards eliminating the use of synthetic compounds, have been a driving force in manufacturers striving to achieve a "natural" product made from all natural sources. Alternatives to synthetic preservatives include plant materials, which are a significant source of active constituents with a high level of antimicrobial activity.
