Aptar

Aptar Beauty is strengthening its North American manufacturing footprint with the launch of U.S.-based production for its AAT Vertical Slider Aerosol Valve, a dispensing technology designed to tackle one of the aerosol industry's most persistent formulation challenges: clogging in high-powder and particle-rich products.

Now produced at Aptar's Cary, Illinois facility, the valve is engineered to improve the performance of pressurized formulations such as dry shampoos, shimmer mists, hair volumizers, deodorants, foot powders, insect repellents and root touch-up sprays. The localization of production is expected to reduce lead times and provide brands with greater supply chain flexibility and faster speed to market.

At the heart of the innovation is a proprietary 3.5 mm stem design that minimizes gasket flexing—a common issue in traditional aerosol valves that can lead to powder accumulation, inconsistent spray performance, propellant leakage and ultimately product failure. Aptar's straight-shank system actively wipes residual powder from the stem during use, helping maintain consistent flow, improve product evacuation and reduce the risk of a "dead can."

The launch reflects a broader industry push toward increasingly sophisticated aerosol formats, particularly as brands explore powdered and shimmer-based formulations that deliver unique sensory experiences while posing greater technical challenges for packaging systems. By pairing enhanced dispensing reliability with domestic manufacturing, Aptar is positioning itself to support growing demand for differentiated aerosol products across beauty, personal care, home care and industrial applications.

The AAT valve can be paired with Aptar's portfolio of premium aerosol actuators, including its Tina twist-to-lock actuator featuring Double Click technology, as well as a range of hooded and button-style dispensing options designed to combine functionality with elevated shelf appeal.
