A beauty accelerator gains a new acquisition, and a skincare brand enters a new chapter.

The Center Brands and Dr. Mamina Turegano announced their acquisition of Boscia on Oct. 26. The Center Brands, in partnership with Dr. Mamina Turegano, acquired Boscia and will reimagine it through the lens of modern dermatology while preserving the Japanese skincare philosophy, ingredients and rituals that have long defined its identity.

Boscia launched in 2002, showing success for almost a decade before shutting down in 2024.

The Japanese skincare brand alluded to its return,  posting teasers on Instagram at the beginning of October. Users of the brand shared both their excitement and confusion in the comments of the posts. Under a post, user @toa.oad wrote, “The everyday woman needs you!!! I don’t want botox I want reliable and affordable skincare.”

For Dr. Mamina Turegano, personal connection to the brand and her expertise in dermatology stand at the forefront of the plan to evolve the brand. Boscia's Japanese roots resonate with her own heritage and childhood memories of skincare rituals shared with her mother and grandmother.

"Those rituals were part of my childhood with my mother and grandmother and they still shape how I think about skincare. I'm excited to bring that connection and my perspective as a triple board-certified dermatologist to Boscia," says Dr. Mamina Turegano.

“What drew us to Boscia was the combination of its history, its Japanese skincare philosophy and the excitement people felt around its products," says Ben Bennett. "Dr. Mamina Turegano shares that appreciation and brings a deeply personal connection to the brand. Together, we have the distinct honor of taking what made Boscia special and advancing that unique sensibility into the future."

The Center Brands continues to hold its name as a brand accelerator, housing brands such as fragrance brand Phlur, skin care brand Prequel and most recently investing and partnering with Claudia Sulewski's body care brand Cyklar in 2024. The Boscia acquisition and planned relaunch for 2027 continue to prove its place in the beauty industry.
