Estée Lauder Expands in Fragrance with Frédéric Malle Acquisition

Estée Lauder Cos. Inc. has expanded its fragrance offering once again with the agreement to acquire Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle, a luxury fragrance brand sold in its New York and Paris boutiques in addition to high-end department stores. This agreement comes on the heels of the company's fragrance acquisition of Le Labo.

Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed; however, it is expected to close in January 2015. Editions de Parfums Frédéric Malle was established by Frédéric Malle in 2000 in Paris. John Demsey, Estée Lauder group president, will oversee the new acquisition.

“The Estée Lauder Companies has great respect for the art of perfumery and for the creativity, dedication and mastery required to create truly exceptional fragrance experiences,” said Malle in a press release.
